New bleep!BOX music from Mindlobster, Ronji and Fony

August 10th, 2010

People keep making cool music with bleep!BOX. Mindlobster has put together an EP using nothing but bleep!BOX on the iPad. Check it out here. Buzzy!

Fony also sent me this stompin’ little ditty: Nblz1998. Nice work!

Ronji has also been busy. He posted this delightfully 8-bit track, dangMC and has recently contributed tracks like Dregg, trevil, trevil2. Check out more at his page!

I also post little snippets from time to time, like this one. More stuff at the bleep!Group.

Free bleep!BOX Patches

August 9th, 2010

I put together a bunch of ‘standard’ drum machine beats for you all to enjoy – Funk, Reggae, Rnb and more! Not too much creativity in the sound design, but these are good starting points for your own creations.

Sample – Funk | Sample – Rnb

Download them Here

In order to get these onto your iPhone or iPad you have several options. The easiest is if you have iOS 3.2 or later. Just plug in your device via your USB sync cable and go into the apps tab. Select bleep!BOX and you should see a documents list at the bottom. Unzip the contents of the zip file on your computer and drag them into into the root folder for bleep!BOX. The next time bleep!BOX runs, it will grab these and put them in the proper patch folders.

If you have an older device, the next best bet is to use the WIFI Transfer page (Data -> Share -> WIFI Transfer). Please see the docs if you’re new to the process.  If you’re stuck, feel free to drop me a mail.

bleep!BOX 1.3.3 approved

August 2nd, 2010

1.3.3 has been approved and should be available shortly. If you downloaded bleep!BOX for the first time in the last few days, you may need to delete the app and reinstall to get presets to show up. Be sure to back up any work you may have started. As always, contact me if you have any questions.

1.3.2 Live, 1.3.3 is coming

August 2nd, 2010

1.3.2 is live – existing users should upgrade as it offers some important bug fixes and better performance on several pages. An issue was found with the preset files, which causes first time users to not see any presets. This issue was fixed and an update submitted to apple on Thursday evening. I’m expecting Apple to approve it sometime this week if all goes well. If you bought bleep!BOX in the last few days, we apologize for the inconvenience. Hold tight, it should be resolved soon. We will make it up to you guys with some freebies once the new update is approved.

1.3.1 is live, more fixes coming

July 22nd, 2010

1.3.1 is live – this update fixed SoundCloud support and some issues with the new ‘bar’ slider behavior (on the iPhone/Touch). There is still one more issue with the bar slider, in that changing the pattern length does not update the bar slider immediately. Right now, you would have to switch patterns (on the song page for instance) in order to get it to recognize your new setting. We are also looking into an issue with the intro ‘news’ page crashing if you click ‘GO’ before the images finish loading. Both of these bugs will be fixed and we are looking to submit a new update this weekend.

Good things are on the horizon – we are looking into providing Retina display support for those of you with iPhone 4′s, and we have more new features and cool stuff planned. We also have a couple videos to release. Stay tuned.

1.3.1 update submitted

July 7th, 2010

This update will fix SoundCloud support and some problems with the ‘bar’ picker on the iPhone interface. Updates for bleep!Synth and bleep!BOX Player are also waiting for review and are expected within the next few days.

Outstanding issues

July 2nd, 2010

Looks like a couple minor things got broken in the scramble to fix bleep!BOX for iOS 4

  • Some text values on the edit sliders are cut off
  • Soundcloud authorization isn’t working correctly

We are aware of the issues and will get these two items fixed quickly. Fixes for bleep!Synth are also in the pipeline and expected shortly.

July 1st, 2010

An important bug fix for iOS 4.0 has been submitted. Lets all hope for a speedy and smooth approval.

iOS 4.0 issue – important

June 21st, 2010

Apple has notified us that there is a crashing issue (and a no-sound issue) with bleep!BOX under iOS 4.0 – we are working hard to get this resolved as soon as possible. Until then, I would recommend not upgrading your phone to iOS 4.0 just yet, if using bleep!BOX is important to you.

Update 6/26:
We are still working hard to resolve these issues – we have a fix for the no-sound issue and are working out some OpenGL related issues on specific devices. I am hopeful that we will be able to submit a new update sometime this coming week. For now, stick to bleep!BOX on iOS 3.2 (iPad) or 3.1.3.
